  • Avoid direct sun exposure (tanning/burning)

    Stop using actives 2-3 days before (glycolic, retinol, lactic etc)

    Avoid hair removal 2 days prior (48 hours)

  • Try to avoid direct sunlight for 48 hours. Remember to reapply your SPF every 2 hours and grab your favorite hat!

    Avoid at-home exfoliation for at least 7 days (that includes AHA/BHA serums)

    No hair removal (waxing, sugaring, laser) for 7 days

    Skip the gym (or excessive sweating) the next 48 hours

    Don’t touch or pick at your skin... please.

  • If you notice some purging, don’t panic (and you might not experience any at all). Facials can help push debris that’s been trapped under dead skin cells to the surface. Any small breakouts you may experience shouldn’t linger. Ice-inflamed breakouts and/or use a hydrating spot treatment like Face Reality’s Spot Treatment.

  • Routine is key when it comes to skincare so if you don’t typically get facials, your skin will be a little more reactive. (It’s like if you go to the gym for the first time in a while and your muscles feel sore—it’s not used to the movement.)
